Weekend crime round-up

Crime in Brakpan.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

Friday – A residence in the Plastic City informal settlement was burgled of liquor and cash.

Saturday – Two cellphones, a TV and liquor were stolen during a break-in at a home along Graaf Street in Sonneveld.

* A Renault Sandero was stolen from an address along Derby Avenue.

* Cellphones and cash were stolen during a robbery at a clothing retail store along Voortrekker Avenue.

A man entered the shop just before 2pm and threatened a cashier at gunpoint. The woman was forced to open the tills and the robber stuffed the cash into his pockets.

Another robber was seen standing guard at the entrance.

As staff members were taken to the storeroom, the cashier saw more men loading cellphones into a plastic bag.

At least 150 cellphones were stolen.

A case of business robbery is under investigation.

* Wheel caps were stolen from a vehicle parked at the corner of Northdene and Prince George avenues.

Sunday – Three armed men made off with cash and other goods after robbing a shop along Prince George Avenue.

The robbery took place around 2pm.

Cash was stolen from a safe in the office and staff members were robbed of personal belongings such as cellphones and wallets.
