Man arrested after deadly fight
The man with whom he allegedly had a fight has been arrested for murder.
A 29-year-old Brakpan man died during the early hours of Tuesday morning after he was reportedly assaulted with a steel pipe during an altercation.
According to information received from Brakpan police, the pair came to blows around 11am on Monday.
The events leading up to the incident are not known, but the deceased was reportedly struck on the head with a steel pipe.
Later on Monday, the man complained to his girlfriend that he had a headache. He then went to sleep.
The man’s girlfriend told police he awoke around 3am and told her that if he sat up, he was in less pain.
He reportedly fell asleep again shortly afterwards, but his girlfriend noticed he was struggling to breathe.
An ambulance was called to the home in Gardiner Avenue and the man was declared dead on the scene.
Police noted he had a visible injury to the right side of his head.
The suspect has since been arrested and the steel pipe was seized.
A golf club allegedly used by the deceased during the altercation was also seized by police.
The investigation continues.
