Brakpan Red Cross efforts continue during lockdown

In order for this good work to continue, the Red Cross is appealing to members of the public for donations.

Winter is on our doorstep and while many of us have a warm home and food to sustain us during these cold months, there are so many who don’t.

The situation is further exacerbated by the lockdown with homeless and destitute people in need now more than ever.

There are also more people in need of assistance.

One organisation that has not been hampered during the lockdown is the Brakpan Red Cross, which regularly supplies food to people in need through its feeding scheme.

The local Red Cross has also been hard at work since the start of the lockdown supplying frequent meals to the homeless of Brakpan and Springs.

In order for this good work to continue, the organisation is appealing to members of the public for donations.

The Red Cross is in need of toiletries, food and blankets, to distribute to those who need it most.

Residents can assist by donating any non-perishable goods, such as tinned food, maize meal, pasta and packet soups.

You can also donate toothpaste, soap and other toiletries.

New or second-hand blankets in a good and clean condition will be gratefully received.

The Brakpan Red Cross can be contacted on 011 740 0074.
