Lockdown patrol uncovers drug offender

Man arrested by EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members in Tsakane after he was found in possession of drugs.

While patrolling the streets of Tsakane on Thursday, last week, members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a man for possession of drugs.

Conducting lockdown foot patrols with other law enforcers along Mohaesi Steet around 1.20pm, the officers stopped and searched a suspicious-looking man.

“The 34-year-old was arrested after officers found five pieces of rock (cocaine) and 10 knotted plastic bags of nyaope valued at R500 in his possession,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.

The man was handcuffed and taken to the Tsakane Police Station on a charge of possession of illicit substances.
