Hijacked truck recovered in Labore

Another weekend of successes for the Benoni Flying Squad.

Benoni Flying Squad members recovered a white Nissan UD truck in Labore, Brakpan, over the weekend.

The vehicle, which was found abandoned along Watt Street, had been hijacked in Tsakane.

In another success, the squad recovered a Caterpillar TLB in Petit, Benoni.

The vehicle was reported stolen in Evaton.

Members made two arrests over the weekend and also recovered drugs and seized chemicals and equipment used in the manufacture of illegal substances.

“Members followed up information at around 2pm on Saturday which led them to a house in Gauntlet Street, Rhodesfield (Kempton Park),” said WO Grant Giblin, Benoni Flying Squad communications officer.

“On the premises they seized around 400g of dry Cat (methcathinone), approximately 10kg of wet Cat and around 25lt of chemicals, as well as equipment used in the manufacturing of these drugs.

“The seizure is valued at around R2-million.

“These type of premises are referred to as ‘cook houses’ because of the way the drugs are prepared.”

A 43-year-old woman was arrested on the premises.

Members further arrested a man (36) for theft after responding to a complaint at a warehouse in Barbara Road, Isando (Edenvale).

Investigation continues in all cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrates courts facing charges of possession of drugs, manufacture of dependence producing substances and theft.
