Army veteran remembers fallen comrades

His display gathered a lot of interest from young people.

Brakpan resident and army veteran Danny Fourie commemorated Remembrance Day (November 11, also known as Armistice Day or Poppy Day) with a small display at Mall@Carnival.

Fourie is a former member of the 1 Special Service Battalion and Light Horse Regiment, and held the rank of sergeant.

He told the Herald he usually spends Remembrance Day attending a military service, but this year wanted to remember the fallen on his own.

Fourie explained his display at the mall gathered a lot of interest from young people keen to know more about the day.
