Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Three burglaries took place.

These occurred at homes along Satara Avenue in Leachville, Tinker Road in Brenthurst and Gladstone Avenue.

Clothes, a computer, water taps, cables and other valuables were stolen.

* A white Toyota Etios was stolen from Devon Street in Dalview.

* Jewellery, groceries and two pairs of shoes were stolen from a female motorist along Springs Road near Dalpark.

The incident took place around 4pm as the victim was driving home after shopping.

A white Volkswagen Jetta bumped into her and the victim pulled over to inspect the damage.

One of the occupants of the Jetta assaulted her and searched her, while another removed her keys from the ignition and opened her car’s boot.

The men loaded the boot’s contents into the Jetta and drove off.

A case of common robbery is under investigation.

• Saturday – A TV, a kettle, food and other household items were stolen during a break-in at a home along Summerson Street in Minnebron.

• Sunday – A man was robbed of his cellphone at the corner of Wenden Avenue and Station Road.

The victim was outside a local tavern at about 4am buying something to eat when he was attacked by four men.

After assaulting him, they searched him and ran off with his cellphone.

* A supermarket along Ergo Road in Maryvlei was robbed by five men.

The robbers, one of whom was armed with a gun, entered the store around 11.45am and threatened staff and customers.

They fled with cash, cellphones and cigarettes.

* A cashier at a petrol station along Airport Drive in Dalpark was held at gunpoint during a robbery at 9.20pm.

A man approached the victim at the counter and pointed a firearm at her, demanding money from the till.

The man, and two accomplices, left with cash and cigarettes.

• Possession of drugs: 3
• Selling liquor without a licence: 4
• Drunk driving: 1
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Shoplifting: 2
