Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Three homes were broken into.

The targeted residences were along Tweedy Road in Brenthurst, New Kleinfontein Road in Leachville and Saffron Street in Dalpark Extension Six.

Jewellery, TVs, laptops, cellphones and other valuables were stolen.

* A business along Station Road was burgled of a welding machine and a Jet Master (type not specified).

* A Dalpark woman was robbed in her home by two men.

The victim, who lives along Moepel Street, was bathing when the pair gained access to the house around 12.15pm.

One of the robbers confronted her in the bathroom.

They demanded jewellery and bound the victim’s hands and feet.

One robber kept a watch over her while the other ransacked the house.

The robbers locked the victim in her bedroom and fled with various items including a gaming console, cellphones, jewellery and shoes.

They also took two sets of car keys and a pellet gun.

* Staff at a petrol station along Prince George Avenue in Brenthurst were robbed at gunpoint by three men.

The robbers entered the shop on the premises around 9.50pm and instructed the cashier to open the till.

After taking money and the cashier’s cellphone, the robbers fled in a red bakkie.

• Saturday – Two men made off with cash, jewellery, a firearm and ammunition, cellphones, a TV and kitchen appliances after robbing a a family in their home at a Sonneveld complex.

The robbers broke into the residence, near Farquharson Street, at approximately 3am and threatened the family at gunpoint.

The robbers loaded the stolen loot into the family’s blue Toyota Camry and drove off.

* A woman was robbed of her cellphone by a lone thief as she was walking along Kitzinger Avenue around 8.30pm.

The thief approached the woman and started talking to her, but attacked her after she told him to leave her alone.

The woman fell and dropped her phone, which the man picked up.

* Two friends were robbed of their cellphones by the occupants of a red Corsa in Dalpark Extension Six.

The pair was walking along Wildevy Street around 11pm when the vehicle pulled up alongside them.

Three men, each armed with a firearm, alighted the vehicle and demanded their belongings.

One of the victims sustained a wound to his head after he was pistol-whipped by one of the robbers.

* Clothes, groceries and a set of car keys were stolen during a break-in at a home along Derby Avenue.

* A home in Wenden Avenue was burgled of a TV and DVD player.

• Sunday – TVs, a gaming console, laptops, jewellery, shoes and a pair of sunglasses were stolen from a residence in Rooidoring Street, Dalpark Extension Six.
