Weekend of success for Benoni Flying Squad

Recovered numerous vehicles and notched up an impressive amount of arrests.

Benoni Flying Squad members recovered a stolen TLB construction vehicle in Labore, Brakpan, over the weekend.

The vehicle, which was found abandoned along Ampere Street, had been stolen in Tsakane.

In another local success, the squad recovered a white Toyota Hilux in Leachville.

The vehicle was reported hijacked in Vosman (Emalahleni).

Friday to Sunday also saw members recover an additional seven vehicles, arrest nine suspects and recover one firearm.

Following up on information, squad members arrested two suspects for possession of an unlicensed .38 revolver and four live rounds of ammunition at the corner of Monument and Friedman roads in Kempton Park.

Two people were arrested at the Marikana informal settlement in Glen Marais, Kempton Park, for conspiracy to commit murder, while another was arrested at the Kempton Park Taxi Rank when he was found in possession of dagga weighing in excess of 30g.

In Gelebe Street, Daveyton, Benoni, a suspect wanted for assault was traced and arrested.

Three were arrested with the recovery of four stolen motor vehicles – a white Toyota Hilux (Pretoria West case) and an Uno Fire (Mabopane case) at a premises along Hlongwane Street, Mphomalong, Tembisa, as well as a white Volkswagen Polo (Meyerton case) found along Pomona Road in Kempton Park and a blue Isuzu bakkie (Dawn Park case) found in Dawn Park.

In further policing, more motor vehicles were recovered.

A white Toyota Conquest stolen in Dawn Park was found along Masakhane Street in Katlehong, near Germiston, a blue Volkswagen Polo was found at the Ivory Park Taxi Rank in Tembisa reported stolen in the same area and a white Volkswagen Polo stolen in Kempton Park was found along Pomona Road in Kempton Park.

Investigation continues in all cases.

The suspects, aged between 24 and 43, will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property, possession of drugs, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and conspiracy to commit murder.
