Man arrested for forgery, drugs

The man was charged under the Immigration Act, and for possession of and dealing in illicit substances.

A 30-year-old Nigerian national was arrested at a house in High Street on Thursday, last week, after drugs and forged documents were found in his possession.

Responding to a complaint about the address being frequented by shady-looking individuals on a daily basis, members from the EMPD’s Drug Enforcement Unit raided the premises around 6.50am.

They uncovered narcotics and forged documents.

“A search conducted in the house resulted in 11 ziplock bags of khat valued at R2 200, R300 cash and two forged asylum seeker’s documents being found,” said Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD media liaison officer.

The man was charged under the Immigration Act, and for possession of and dealing in illicit substances, at the Brakpan Police Station.
