Daily crime watch

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (September 5 to 6):

Cases reported:

• Business robbery: 1
• Tampering with infrastructure: 3
• Reckless driving: 1
• Possession of drugs: 2
• Possession of stolen property: 1
• Murder: 1
• Theft: 2
• Theft out of motor vehicle: 3 (one Sandton case)
• Shoplifting: 2
• Residential burglary: 2
• Fraud: 1
• Hijacking: 2
• Common robbery: 1

Arrests:

• Possession of drugs: 8
• Possession of stolen property: 3
• Shoplifting: 1
• Common robbery: 1

Murder:

• The bloodied body of a man was found at the corner of Rangeview Road and Airport Drive in Dalpark last night (Thursday).

Police were called to the scene around 7.45pm.

No further information was provided.

Hijacking:

• A taxi driver was hijacked in Leachville last night after he pulled over to eat his supper.

The victim had stopped along Sudwala Avenue at about 7.45pm when he was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun.

He managed to escape from the white Toyota Quantum and ran off.

• The driver of a white Toyota Hilux bakkie was robbed of his vehicle in the driveway of his Dalpark Extension Six home.

Two gunmen confronted the victim as he pulled up to his Winterberg Road address around 8.40pm.

The hijackers drove off with the victim and bound his hands.

He was robbed of his cellphones and cash, and later dropped off in KwaThema.

Common robbery:

• A woman was arrested after a motorist was robbed of his cellphone at the corner of Hoy Avenue and Park Street.

The incident took place around 7.30pm last night.

The victim was robbed by a woman to whom he had given a lift.

Business robbery:

• A business in Sallies Village was robbed by a gang of six men.

The robbers gained access to the 15th Road premises around 2am yesterday and confronted a security guard.

The guard was tied up and the men made off with machinery and tools.

Burglary:

• Taft Avenue.

The break-in took place yesterday.

Stolen: A bicycle.

• Boundary Road.

The home was broken into yesterday.

Stolen: A microwave and a mountain bike.

Theft out of motor vehicle:

• A car parked along Beechwood Street in Dalpark was broken into yesterday and a laptop was stolen.

• A handbag containing jewellery, bank cards and other valuables was stolen from a car parked at Mall@Carnival, yesterday.
