Daily crime watch

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (August 20 to 21):

Cases reported:

• Residential burglary: 1
• Theft: 3
• Hijacking: 1
• Drunk driving: 1
• Robbery with other weapon: 1
• Business robbery: 1
• Sexual assault: 1
• Fraud: 1
• Common assault: 1
• Possession of drugs: 1
• Tampering with infrastructure: 1

Arrests:

• Fraud: 1
• Rape: 1
• Drunk driving: 1
• Possession of drugs: 1

Hijacking:

• The driver of a grey Renault (model not provided) was robbed of her vehicle along Prince George Avenue in Brenthurst.

The incident took place around 11am yesterday (Tuesday) as the victim was leaving her residence.

Three men overpowered her, took her car keys and drove off.

Business robbery:

• A petrol station along Prince George Avenue in Brenthurst was robbed by two men last night.

They entered the shop on the premises around 9.45pm and threatened a staff member and a customer at gunpoint.

The robbers fled with cash and cigarettes.

Robbery:

• A women was attacked and robbed while travelling by taxi.

The victim boarded the white Toyota Quantum to Langaville along the R554 (Elsburg Road), near Carnival City, last night.

There were two men and a woman in the taxi.

After paying her fare, the driver demanded more money from the victim.

The man sitting next to her then started strangling her and threatened to kill her.

She was robbed of her shoes, jacket and money, and told to get out of the taxi and run.

Burglary:

• Stoffberg Avenue.

The home was broken into yesterday (Tuesday).

Stolen: A cellphone.
