Brakpan police have warned motorists travelling in the vicinity of Carnival City to be vigilant following a spate of hijackings in the area.
The latest incident took place on Wednesday evening, last week, when the driver of a blue Hyundai i20 pulled over on the side of the road at about 9pm to make a phone call.
A man armed with a gun and a woman climbed into the car, which was unlocked, and pulled the victim to the back seat.
A third hijacker climbed into the driver’s seat and sped off.

During the journey, the hijackers stopped to pick up two accomplices and to drop off the woman.
The hijackers drove the victim to a secluded area where they forced him out of the vehicle.
The Hyundai was later recovered in Katlehong.
Police believe the perpetrators are travelling in a white Toyota Fortuner.
Lt-Col Peet van der Schyff from the Brakpan SAPS pleaded with motorists to keep their car doors locked and advised them to drive to a well-lit, safe public area if they needed to stop.
Police are monitoring the area and motorists are urged to keep their eyes peeled.
To report suspicious-looking people, vehicles or activities, contact Brakpan police on 011 744 4940.
