According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (April 10 to 11):

House robbery

• A Withok Estates family fell victim to house robbers during the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednesday).

Two men gained entry to the Floors Road house around 2.30am and threatened the family at gunpoint.

After ransacking the house, the robbers fled in the family’s car – a grey Hyundai Atos – with cellphones, electrical appliances, clothes and other items.

Hijacking:

• A blue Hyundai i20 was recovered in Katlehong last night after it was hijacked along Elsburg Road, near Carnival City, at about 9pm.

The victim pulled over on the side of the road to make a phone call when a woman and a man armed with a a gun climbed into his car and pulled him to the back seat.

A third hijacker climbed into the driver’s seat and sped off.

During the journey, the hijackers stopped to pick up two accomplices and to drop off the woman.

The hijackers drove the victim to a secluded area where they forced him out of the vehicle.

The Hyundai was found abandoned, but the hijackers had helped themselves to the victim’s belongings, which included cellphones, a laptop and some cash.

Burglary:

• Tembuland Street, Leachville.

The home was broken into on Tuesday.

Stolen: A TV.

• Hastings Avenue.

The burglary occurred yesterday.

Stolen: Water taps and other valuables. The house was also vandalised.

• Redheart Street, Dalpark Extension Six.

The break-in took place yesterday.

Stolen: A TV.

• McMillan Street, Brakpan North.

The residence was burgled yesterday.

Stolen: TVs and a laptop.

• Joubert Street, Brenthurst.

The burglary took place yesterday.

Stolen: TVs, laptops, jewellery and other household items.
