Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

• Friday – Three burglaries took place.

A home in Loerie Lane, Anzac, was burgled of cash, clothes, cellphones, a home theatre system and liquor, while a TV was stolen from an address along Northdene Avenue.

* Cash was stolen during a break-in at a business along Park Street.

* A Leachville resident was hijacked of his white Chevrolet bakkie in the driveway of his home.

The victim arrived at his Sapelie Avenue residence around 8.30pm.

After parking the bakkie, he noticed a white car pull up behind him and two men climb out.

The pair were armed with guns and demanded money.

They dragged the victim out of the bakkie and searched him, taking his cash.

He was forced to lie on the ground and heard the hijackers drive off in his vehicle.

• Saturday – An amplifier, home theatre system and other household items were stolen from a home in Cardigan Street, Dalview.

A suspect was arrested the following day in connection with this incident.

* Three gunmen robbed a shop along Ergo Road in Marievlei.

The incident took place at about 8.15am and the trio fled with cash, cellphones and cigarettes.

• Sunday – A silver Toyota Etios was stolen from the corner of Cavendish Street and Kingsway Avenue.

* A vehicle parked along Kitzinger Avenue was broken into and several extension cords were stolen.

Two suspects were arrested and the stolen items were returned.
