Daily crime watch

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (February 28 to March 1):

Cases reported:

• Theft: 5
• House robbery: 1
• Crimen injuria: 2
• Malicious damage to property: 2
• Rape: 1
• Traffic offences: 1
• Business robbery: 1
• Residential burglary: 3
• Armed robbery: 1 (Johannesburg case)
• Common robbery: 1

No arrests were made.

Business robbery:

• Security guards at a company along Main Reef Road in Anzac were held up by a gang of 12 robbers on Wednesday evening.

The robbers, one of whom was armed with a gun, gained access to the premises just before 10pm and rounded up the guards.

They fled with computers, water pumps and other valuables.

House robbery:

• A Withok Estates resident was tied up during a robbery in his Koot Street home yesterday morning (Thursday).

The victim was awakened by two men in his room at about 4am.

The robbers bound his hands and feet with cable.

After ransacking the house, they ran off with a TV and appliances.

Common robbery:

• A woman was robbed of her bankcard at a petrol station along Prince George Avenue yesterday.

The woman’s son was withdrawing cash from an ATM on the premises when he was attacked by three men.

The trio took the card and drove off in a Ford Fiesta.

The victim discovered that R2 850 had been withdrawn from her account shortly afterwards.

Burglary

• Taft Avenue.

The break-in took place on Sunday.

Stolen: Clothes.

• Kaapmuiden Avenue, Leacahville.

The home was burgled on Wednesday.

Stolen: Speakers and sound equipment.

• Elliot Road.

The residence was broken into on Wednesday.

Stolen: A car battery, two bicycles, a toolbox and car cleaning equipment.
