Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Two break-ins took place in Minnebron.

A gaming console, games, jewellery and other household items were stolen from a home in Eric Holdtman Avenue, while a Croft Street residence was burgled of a TV, a video camera and a digital camera.

* The driver of a Toyota Hilux bakkie was assaulted and hijacked by three men, two of whom were armed with guns.

The incident took place along Prince George Avenue at about 5.15pm.

The victim was also robbed of his cellphone and bank card.

* A woman was robbed of her cellphone while walking along Kingsway Avenue at 4.40pm.

A suspect was later arrested.

* Two cars parked at Mall@Carnival were broken into.

A set of speakers and a pair of shoes were stolen from one vehicle, while a bag containing clothing, shoes, cash and other valuables was stolen from the other.

• Saturday – A silver Toyota Tazz was stolen from Voortrekker Road.

* A battery was stolen from a truck parked at an address along Siding Street.

* An extension cord, a hosepipe, pots and other goods were stolen from a Hastings Avenue residence.

• Sunday – Two batteries were stolen from a truck parked along Station Road.

* A TV, a cellphone and bedding were stolen from a home in Muir Street.

* A female motorist was robbed of her cellphone along Molecule Road in Vulcania.

Travelling home from work at about 5.30pm, the victim was forced to stop when a white bakkie pulled in front of her and braked, obstructing her path.

A man armed with a gun alighted the bakkie and opened the victim’s car door.

She was told to lie down while the gunman and his accomplice searched her car.

After taking her cellphone, the robbers returned to their vehicle and drove off.

Other cases: 

• Thursday – A black Suzuki motorcycle was stolen from Boundary Road in Brenthurst.
