So, if you are thinking about hosting a party but worrying about what it will do to your pocket, here are a few tips on how you can have a party on a budget:
- Host the party after dinnertime; ask your guests to bring their own drinks and allocate a certain snack to each person.
- They may be silly, but people still love the traditional New Year’s Eve party items such as noisemakers, hats, tiaras and horns. Put these items on a platter or in a big decorative bowl and let people grab items as they wish.
- Be creative about the countdown. You can pop a balloon for every second, starting at 10.
- Go old-school and create a custom CD with all of your guests’ favourites! Burn extra CDs for your guests. Or search for New Year’s playlists on Spotify or on YouTube
- Dim your lights to make it a bit romantic for your guests.
