Stage 1 loadshedding to be implemented by Eskom – your schedule
Eskom will provide regular updates on the status of the power system through all its media platforms.
As a result of increased generation plants being out for planned maintenance as well as unplanned outages, Stage 1 rotational load shedding had been implemented by Eskom at noon.
It is expected to continue until 10pm on Thursday night.
Stage 1 rotational load shedding requires 1000MW to be shedded nationwide. Load shedding is conducted as a measure of last resort to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout.
We encourage residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly to ease the demand of electricity. Please switch off geysers as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand.
