After receiving information about people digging up copper cables along Heidelberg Road in Brakpan over the weekend, the EMPD Security and Standards Anti-Cable Theft Unit members investigated and were able to apprehend nine suspects found in possession of seven metres of copper cable.

Two members of the EMPD Anti-Cable Theft Unit, together with CPF members, rounded up the male suspects who had excavated a trench to get to copper cable valued at R12 000.
The suspects, aged between 17 and 29, were arrested on charges of malicious damage to property and theft.
