Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (September 11 to 12):

• Speeding: 3

House robbery:

• A house robbery took place at an address along Gerrit Maritz Avenue in Dalview yesterday (Tuesday).

Two men, one of whom was armed with a gun, gained access to the house at 12.30pm and threatened the resident and her friend.

The women were taken to the dining room where they were searched.

The resident managed to escape the robbers’ clutches and ran to the lounge where she pressed the panic button, forcing the robbers to flee.

As the robbers ran down the street, they were pursued by a vigilant motorist who had seen them leaving the property.

Before leaving the house the robbers had taken boxes of jewellery, which they dropped in the street in their haste to get away.

The motorist returned the stolen items to the resident.

Theft from motor vehicle:

• On Monday, a vehicle parked at an address along Farquharson Road in Minnebron was stripped of its wheels.

A car battery was removed from another vehicle on the premises.

Tools, including a welding machine and grinder, were also stolen.
