Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (June 14 to 15):

Cases reported:

• Assault GBH: 1
• Theft: 2
• Selling counterfeit goods: 1
• Common assault: 1
• Business burglary: 1
• Theft out of motor vehicle: 1
• Theft from motor vehicle: 1
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Robbery with firearm: 3

Arrests:

Armed robbery:

• A train commuter was robbed by four men on Wednesday evening.

The male victim, who boarded a train from Boksburg to Springs, was confronted by the group at the Brakpan Train Station just after 8pm.

One of the men was armed with a gun and two others were brandishing knives.

They searched the victim and took his cellphone.

Other commuters were reportedly robbed of their possessions.

• Two security guards were robbed at gunpoint at a company along Second Avenue in Witpoort Estates.

The pair were confronted by two armed men at around 9pm last night (Thursday).

They were searched and robbed of a cellphone, torch and a pair of handcuffs.

• A security guard on duty at a company along First Road in Vulcania was robbed by three men this morning (Friday).

The robbers gained access to the premises at about 1am and threatened the guard with a gun.

He was robbed of his cellphone and tied up.

The robbers fled when the alarm was sounded by another guard.

Burglary:

• Nossob Street, Dalpark (business).

The break-in took place yesterday.

Stolen: Computers and a laptop.

Theft out of/from motor vehicle:

• On Wednesday, a radio and some tools were stolen from a car parked along Hoy Avenue.

• A vehicle at an address in Gerrit Maritz Avenue, Dalview, was stripped of its wheels on Wednesday.
