Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A business situated along Ergo Road in Maryvlei was burgled of cigarettes and cash.

* Two residential break-ins in Dalview were reported.

These took place at homes along Athlone Avenue (where dogs on the premises were poisoned) and Acton Street.

Television sets were stolen.

• Saturday – The body of a man was found at the corner of Hospital Road and Craven Street in Brakpan North.

Police were alerted to the discovery at around 6.40am by a passer-by.

The deceased sustained multiple injuries to his back and was wrapped in a blood-soaked curtain.

A case of murder is under investigation.

* Two men were arrested for residential burglary at a vacant house in Lapping Street, Brenthurst.

The property was vandalised (doors removed, ceiling damaged and a wash basin was broken).

*Clothing, shoes, groceries and cosmetics were stolen from a home along Prince George Avenue.

• Sunday – No priority cases were reported at the time of publication.
