Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A car parked along Dirk Van Der Hoff Street in Rand Collieries was broken into.

Several CDs, a GPS device and a pair of spectacles were stolen.

The car’s ignition and driver’s side door were damaged.

* Three burglaries were reported.

The break-ins took place at homes along George Street and Strange Avenue in Anzac and Victoria Avenue.

Among the valuables stolen were kitchen appliances, a computer, TVs, chairs and a welding machine .

* Two security guards were assaulted with iron rods during a robbery at business premises along Denne Road in Withok.

Three men confronted the victims in the guardroom at around 4.30am.

The robbers fled with cellphones.

* A domestic worker was threatened at gunpoint during a house robbery at her employer’s Brenthurst home.

The victim was confronted by three men inside the Tweedy Street house at about 1.30pm.

One of the robbers pointed a gun at her and demanded money.

The victim was assaulted and taken to a bedroom, where the robbers bound her hands and legs.

After ransacking the house, they fled with laptops, a TV, printer, microwave and other household items.

• Saturday – Tools, cash and a radio were stolen from a vehicle parked along Germains Avenue.

* A Sunair Park resident walked in on two robbers inside her Petrus Street home at around 6pm.

The victim was held at gunpoint and forced outside, where she was locked in a back room.

Jewellery, a laptop and two TVs were stolen.

* A man walking along New Kleinfontein Road in Leachville was robbed of his cellphone.

The incident took place at about 9pm after two men grabbed the victim and threatened him with a firearm.

They took the victim’s cellphone and fled in an old brown Volkswagen Golf.

• Sunday – A white Toyota Atios was stolen from Mall@Carnival.

Other cases:

• Thursday – Two TVs and an amplifier were stolen from a home along Floors Street in Withok.

* A black and silver PGO T-Rex 125cc scooter was stolen from Voortrekker Road.

The following arrests were made in Brakpan over the weekend:

• Speeding: 4
• Possession of drugs: 6
• Attempted housebreaking and theft: 1
• Drunk driving: 1
• Theft: 1
• Assault GBH: 1
• Attempted murder and discharging of firearm: 1
• Selling liquor without a licence: 1
• Reckless driving: 1
