Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A man was assaulted and robbed of his cash and cellphone at the informal settlement along Hospital Road in Brakpan North.

The victim was overpowered by two men known to him at around 11.30am.

One suspect was later arrested.

• Saturday – A woman was assaulted by a lone robber as she entered her rented room along Kitzinger Avenue.

The victim was returning home at around 6am when she was attacked.

She was pushed inside the room, where the man beat her.

The robber helped himself to money in the victim’s handbag and ran off.

Police later arrested a suspect.

* Tent pegs were stolen from a trailer parked at an address along Escombe Avenue.

• Sunday – A business in Denne Road, Witpoortjie, was broken into and laptops were stolen.

* An iPhone, wristwatch, computer, laptop and a Bluetooth speaker were stolen from a home along Prince George Avenue in Brenthurst.

Other cases:

• Wednesday – A home along Witpoortjie Road in Rand Collieries was burgled of a TV, computer, cellphones, jewellery and a handbag containing bank cards and other valuables.

* Wheels were stolen from a truck parked along Molecule Road in Vulcania.

• Thursday – The occupants of a house in Elizabeth Eybers Street, Dalpark, were robbed by four men.

One of the victims was in the backyard at around 8am when he was confronted by a man armed with a gun.

He was forced inside the house where his family members and two staff members had already been rounded up by three other men.

They were taken to the bedroom and told to lie on the floor.

The robbers fled with a TV, cellphones, cash and jewellery.

* A car parked along Lapping Street in Brenthurst was broken into and a GPS device was stolen.

The vehicle was also stripped of its mag wheels.

* Four burglaries were reported.

These took place at homes along Talbot Street in Brakpan North, Lower Road in Sonneveld, The Cut in Dalview and Station Road.

Stolen items included gardening equipment, TVs, laptops, kitchen appliances, clothing and jewellery.
