• April 26
Hirsch’s Carnival will host a Domestic Workers Course from 9am. There is no charge but booking is essential. Contact Chantelle du Plessis (chantelled@hirschs.co.za or 010 822 2050).
• April 27
A free market day will be held at the Cosy Corner Shellhole. Interested people will be able to set up stalls free of charge but are requested to donate any item which can be distributed to charity organisations.
Cosy Corner is situated at 2 Zeeman Street, Brenthurst, and bookings can be made with Janet van Aarde (073 914 9955).

The annual Just Wheels Show will be held at Muriel Brand School from 8am. Hundreds of cars will be on display, 4×4 activities, several exhibitions, flea market stalls and entertainment. For more information contact Bart Zaayman (083 390 8589).
• May 27
Baritone Andries Aldrich and soprano Khumbu Dlamini, accompanied by Marion Pillay on piano, will perform some of the most beautiful opera arias and duets from Turandot, Rusalka, The Magic Flute, Macbeth, La Wally and The Merry Widow. Brakpan residents are invited to join the Nigel Bridge Group. Bridge is played every Monday from 9am to 1pm in the NG-kerk hall on the corner of Rudd and Harries roads, Dunnottar. New members, with or without a partner, are welcome. For information contact Sylvia Gallichan (082 756 3223).

The Brakpan Homecrafts Society meets every first Tuesday of the month at the St Peter’s Anglican Church hall at 10am. New members are welcome. For more information contact Jane Donker (011 915 2539).
A Narcotics Anonymous meeting for people who have a problem with drugs – or think they may have a problem with drugs – is held every Tuesday at 7.30pm at the St John the Baptist Catholic Church, 74 Queen Avenue.

The Just Wheels Car Club hosts an open day at the clubhouse, every last Sunday of the month. The club is situated at 169 Kritzinger Avenue, Dalview.
