Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A red Volkswagen Citi Golf was stolen from an address along Tweedy Road in Brenthurst.

* A home along Muir Avenue was burgled of garden tools and other valuables.

Two men were arrested on the scene.

* A woman was robbed in the parking lot of the Sherwood Shopping Centre.

The incident took place at around 2pm while the victim was retrieving an item from her car boot.

A man approached her, greeted her and then demanded her jewellery and handbag.

The handbag’s contents included cash, bank cards and reading spectacles.

* A car parked at an address along Glamorgan Road in Dalview was broken into.

The vehicle’s radio and all four wheels were stolen.

• Saturday – A white Chana bakkie was stolen from Van der Walt Road in Dalview.

* A home along Talbot Street in Brakpan North was burgled of a bar fridge, laptops and office equipment.

* The male driver of a BMW fired two shots at the occupants of a silver Volkswagen Golf 5 along Glamorgan Avenue in Dalview.

The two victims were en route to a petrol station at around 1am when the incident occurred.

Both vehicles were stopped at a stop street when the victims heard the man in the BMW shouting at them.

They drove off after seeing the man pointing a gun at them.

Two shots were fired, one of which hit the driver’s side door of the Golf.

A case of attempted murder is under investigation.

• Sunday – The driver of a white Volkswagen Tiguan was hijacked in Sunair Park.

The incident took place at about 9am as the victim was buckling up one of his two sons in the car.

A white Tata pulled up and a man armed with a gun climbed out and approached the victim.

The gunman forced the victim to the ground and searched him.

A second hijacker got into the Tiguan, but struggled to release the handbrake and instructed the victim to help him.

The hijackers then drove off.

The victim and children were unharmed.

* A car parked at an address in Mitchell Crescent, Brenthurst, was stripped of its wheels and radio.

• Assault GBH: 1
• Drunk driving: 1
