The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (April 11 to 12):

Cases reported:

• Possession of drugs: 3

• Tampering/damaging infrastructure: 1

• Common robbery: 1
• Fraud: 3

Arrests:

• Possession of drugs: 3
• Common robbery: 1

Armed robbery:

• A man was robbed of a large sum of cash at the corner of Prince George Avenue and Voortrekker Road yesterday (Wednesday).

The victim, who was looking for a vehicle to purchase, contacted an acquaintance he believed could assist him in finding a suitable car.

They met in town at around 8.30pm and proceeded to the bank where the victim withdrew a substantial amount of money for a vehicle.

As he left the bank, a silver Ford Fiesta with two occupants pulled up alongside him.

The men climbed out of the car and threatened the victim at gunpoint.

They demanded cash and searched the victim, taking his money.

The robbers, along with the victim’s acquaintance, climbed into the Fiesta and drove off.

Common robbery:

• A man was robbed of his cellphone at the corner of Queen Avenue and High Street yesterday.

The incident took place at around 11.30am when a lone thief grabbed the phone from the victim’s hand and ran off.

Burglary:

• 12th Road, Vulcania (business).

The break-in took place on Monday.

Stolen: TV sets.

• Ajax Street, Dalview.

The burglary occurred on Tuesday.

Stolen: Bicycles, a step ladder, gas bottle and other valuables.

• Muir Avenue.

The home was broken into on Tuesday.

Stolen: Gardening equipment and tools.
