Five arrested after Geluksdal shooting

Five men believed to be responsible for a deadly shooting in Geluksdal on Friday night (6 April) have been arrested.

The shooting took place at an address along Caldonia Street at around 11.30pm and resulted in the death of three men.

Two others were injured.

“It is alleged that a group of friends was sitting outside the house when an unknown vehicle stopped next to them and started shooting at them,” said Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu, spokesperson for the Tsakane SAPS.

Two of the victims were certified dead on the scene while three others were rushed to hospital, where one man later died.

The Provincial Investigation Unit arrested five suspects, aged 20, 22, 32, 34 and 36, for murder and attempted murder at about 1am on Tuesday.

Tsakane SAPS station commander Col Johannes Maass applauded the co-operation between the station and the unit.

He also thanked the community for its willingness in helping the police bring the perpetrators to book.
