Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (February 27 to 28):

Cases reported:

• Speeding: 1

Arrests:

• Speeding: 1

Hijacking:

• A man was robbed of his Nissan NP200 bakkie (colour not provided) by three hijackers along Kouga Street in Leachville at about 8pm on Monday.

The victim and a male friend were sitting in the bakkie outside the friend’s home when a white vehicle pulled up alongside them.

Three men alighted the white car and pointed guns at the pair.

They were searched and robbed of their cellphones and wallets, and forced into the hijackers’ vehicle.

The victims were dropped off at a park in Villa Liza, Boksburg.

Robbery with other weapon:

• Two joggers were robbed at knifepoint along Byron Road in Dalpark.

The victims – a husband and wife – were confronted during their morning run by two men at about 5.35am yesterday (Tuesday).

The robbers threatened the pair with a knife and took their cellphones.

Burglary:

• Abercorn Avenue.

The break-in took place on Thursday, last week.

Stolen: A TV, two bicycles and wheels (not specified).

• Lotus Avenue, Kenleaf.

The home was burgled yesterday.

Stolen: Two TVs and a safe containing jewellery and personal documents.

• Stoffberg Avenue.

The burglary occurred yesterday.

Stolen: Cash and a bank card.

• Voortrekker Road.

The break-in took place this morning (Wednesday).

Stolen: A kettle, three extension cords, a car cleaning kit, toolbox and other valuables.

The items were recovered and two suspects were arrested.

Attempted theft out of motor vehicle:

• A smash-and-grab thief was left empty-handed after dropping his loot.

The incident took place at the Voortrekker and Station roads intersection at around 8.15pm last night while the victim was stationary at the traffic lights.

A thief broke the front passenger window and grabbed a cellphone, but the victim smacked the smash-and-grabber’s hand and the device was dropped between the seats.

The victim then quickly drove off.

Theft out of motor vehicle:

• A car parked at an address along Mongoose Avenue in Leachville was broken into on Monday.

The vehicle’s battery and radio were stolen.
