Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A business in Porter Avenue was burgled of brass taps and valves.

* Two women and a man robbed a Brenthurst couple at gunpoint in their Thomas Street residence.

The wife arrived home at about 4.15pm and noticed a white Ford Ranger bakkie pull up behind her and stop at the gate.

She recognised one of the female occupants as a customer (the victim sells goods from home) and allowed them inside her yard.

As they were heading indoors the man pointed a gun at the victim.

She was taken to the TV room where she and her husband were bound with tape and forced to lie down.

The robbers then got to work ransacking the house.

They fled with passports, jewellery, cellphones, cash and other valuables.

* A woman was robbed in Brenthurst by two armed men.

The victim arrived at her home along Muriel Brand Street at about 9pm when she was confronted by the pair.

One of the men was brandishing a knife while the other was armed with a screwdriver.

They told the woman not to scream and grabbed her handbag and cellphone.

The pair then fled on foot.

* A car parked along Goods Road was broken into and a laptop was stolen.

• Saturday – A TV, computer monitors and other household items were stolen from a home along Northdene Avenue.

* A black GWM (model not provided) was stolen from Van Zyl Street in Brenthurst.

• Sunday – The bloodied body of a man was found at a tavern along Hoy Avenue.

Patrolling police officers were stopped by two women at about 7.20am and notified about the body.

A case of murder is under investigation.

* A home in Wattle Street, Dalpark, was burgled of a sound system.

* A woman was abducted by three male occupants of a red Volkswagen Golf and raped by one of the men.

The victim was walking along Boundary Road in Brenthurst at about 7.10pm when the men pulled her into the car.

They drove her to a secluded area where she was forced out of the car at gunpoint.

Two of the men then held her down while the other raped her.

The victim was also assaulted with a belt buckle.

* A load bin cover was stolen from a bakkie parked along Beechwood Street in Dalpark.

Other cases reported:

• Thursday – Five bicycles were stolen from an address along Stoffberg Avenue.

* A Volkswagen Golf (colour not provided) was stolen from an address along Regents Avenue.

The following arrests were made in Brakpan over the weekend:

• Possession of drugs: 4
• Robbery with other weapon: 1
• Shoplifting: 3
• Drunk driving: 3
• Fraud: 1
• Illegal possession of ammunition and culpable homicide: 1
• Malicious damage to property and illegal immigrant: 1
• Contempt of court: 1
