Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A home in Dennis van der Byl Street in Minnebron was burgled of two TVs, jewellery and a computer monitor.

* A man was arrested following a break-in at a business along Victoria Avenue.

The suspect was found on the premises in possession of electronic goods.

* A spare wheel was stolen from a bakkie parked along Brodigan Avenue in Dalview.

* Six robbers made off with computers, laptops and other office equipment after robbing a business in Fifth Road, Witpoort Estates.

The group, four of whom were armed with guns, entered the premises at 11.40pm and tied up a security guard and staff member.

* Tyres and mag wheels were stolen from a car in Trollip Street, Brenthurst.

* A business situated along Second Road in Maryvlei was burgled of truck batteries.

• Saturday – A guitar, TV, laptops and other valuables were stolen from a home in Elliot Road, Anzac.

• Sunday – A case of attempted murder was opened after shots were fired at the driver of a white Mercedes Benz along Beechwood Street in Dalpark.

The victim was travelling towards Heidelberg Road at around 7.50pm when he saw two men on the side of the road.

One of the men pointed a gun at the victim and opened fire, damaging the vehicle’s windscreen.

Other cases reported:

• Thursday – Two break-ins took place.

A TV, laptop and other household items were stolen from a home along Hofmeyr Street in Brenthurst while a TV decoder and remote were stolen from a residence in the Mkhankwa Village informal settlement in Witpoort Estates.
