Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A female pedestrian was robbed in Brenthurst.

The victim was walking along Tweedy Road at 2pm when two men stopped her.

The duo ran off with the victim’s tablet after assaulting her.

A suspect was apprehended by community members and handed over to police.

* A handbag was stolen from a car parked at an address along Athlone Avenue in Dalview.

* Tyres and rims were stolen from a vehicle in Hendrik Potgieter Street, Dalview.

• Saturday – A white Honda motorbike was stolen from Lukas Steyn Street in Withok Estates.

* Two burglaries took place.

These occurred at homes along Hannes Visagie Street in Withok Estates and Tweedy Road in Brenthurst.

TVs, gardening equipment and other goods were stolen.

* A white Toyota D4D double cab bakkie was stolen from Carnival City.

* A man armed with a pair of scissors raped a woman near Boundary Road in Brenthurst.

The victim was walking through the veld at about 10am when she was stopped by a cyclist who asked for directions.

After helping the man, the victim continued on her journey, but the cyclist followed her.

He grabbed her from behind and dragged her from the footpath where he threatened her with a pair of scissors and then raped her.

• Sunday – No cases were reported at the time of publishing.

Other cases reported:

• Thursday – A car parked at an address along Northdene Avenue was broken into.

The vehicle’s radio was stolen.

* Truck tyres, tools and other valuables were stolen during a burglary at a business along 22nd Road in Withok Estates.

* A woman was raped at gunpoint in the veld along Location Road.

The victim was walking along Wenden Avenue at around 8.30am when the driver of a navy blue sedan pulled up alongside her and asked why she was walking alone.

She replied that she was looking for a job and the driver offered her employment and told her to get in the vehicle.

The man then drove her to the veld where he pointed a gun at her and raped her.

* Bedding, taps, a kitchen sink and other fixtures were stolen from a residence along Scott Street in Brenthurst.

The following arrests were made in Brakpan over the weekend:

• Possession of drugs: 9
• Possession of stolen cable: 1
• Shoplifting: 6
• Assault/common robbery: 1
• Selling liquor without a licence: 1
• Possession of housebreaking tools: 2
• Assault GBH: 1
• Armed robbery/murder: 1
