Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A motorbike (make, model and colour not provided) was stolen from Edward Street, in Anzac.

* Computer monitors, cash, groceries and other goods were stolen from a business in Lemmer Road, Vulcania.

* A laptop and other valuables were stolen from a vehicle parked along Platinum Road, in Vulcania.

* Four homes were burgled.

The break-ins took place along Hofmeyer Street in Brenthurst, Sabie Street in Sallies Village, Palm Crescent in Sonneveld and Kalk Street in Minnebron.

Kitchen appliances, jewellery, TVs, groceries and other household items were stolen.

A dog was stolen from the Sabie Street residence.

• Saturday – An orange Ford Ranger bakkie was stolen from an address along Prince George Avenue, in Anzac.

* Two security guards were assaulted during a robbery at business premises along Abramowitz Street, in Brakpan North.

The guards were attacked and beaten with a spanner by six men at around 10pm.

The robbers took off with a welding machine and an angle grinder, and the guards were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

* A man and his girlfriend fell victim to hijackers along Koos Vorster Avenue, in Minnebron.

Two hijackers travelling in a white Ford Ranger bakkie confronted the couple as they sat in the parked vehicle at around 10pm.

They were forced out of the Volkwagen Polo (colour not provided) at gunpoint.

The man was searched and robbed of two cellphones and his wallet.

The hijackers drove off in the Polo, with the Ranger following.

• Sunday – The occupants of a silver Volkswagen Golf 6 hijacked the driver of a blue Mercedes Benz (model not provided) along Heidelberg Road (R23), near Dalpark.

The victim was parked on the side of the road at around 4.15am, when he saw the silver Golf pull up alongside him.

Three men alighted the Golf and pulled the victim from the car.

They put him in the boot of his Mercedes and drove off.

The victim was driven to Benoni where he was stripped of his clothes and thrown into a dam.

* A TV was stolen from a home in Kouga Street, Leachville.

* A woman was robbed of her handbag by two men in a taxi.

The victim was in the taxi when the robbers boarded the vehicle along Hospital Road, in Brakpan North, at around 6.30am.

They wanted to pay with a R200 note and asked the driver if he had change.

The victim told the men that she had change and one of them grabbed her.

They took her handbag, which contained her cellphone, some cash and other valuables.

When the driver stopped the taxi, the robbers jumped from the vehicle and ran away.

Other cases reported:

• Wednesday – A residence in Krinkhout Street, in Dalpark, was burgled of a gardening equipment and tools.

• Thursday – A TV, laptop, cellphone, tablet and school bag were stolen from a home in Taft Avenue.

• Shoplifting: 1
• Drunk driving: 3
• Theft: 2
• Dealing in drugs: 1
• Attempted theft/trespassing: 1
