EMPD finds painkillers dumped in veld

The operation also saw the arrest of a 28-year-old man.

The EMPD K9, Swat and Drug Enforcement Units joined forces on Friday to conduct a crime prevention operation and high visibility patrols in various areas of Brakpan.

The special operation commenced around 8am and ended in the early afternoon.

According to EMPD spokesperson Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago, two 5.8kg plastic bags containing thousands of painkillers were found dumped in an open veld along Goods Road.

“Purportedly the tablets are mixed with dagga and other drugs for an extra kick,” he said.

The operation also saw the arrest of a 28-year-old man.

“A local man was arrested at his house where dagga was recovered,” said Kgasago.

“It emerged that the suspect was out on bail for dealing in dagga and was previously arrested in September this year.”

The tablets and dagga were booked in at the Brakpan Police Station where the suspect was also detained.

He faces a charge of possession of dagga.
