Weekend crime round-up

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A Brakpan man was robbed of his vehicle by a hoax buyer.

The car, a BMW 3 Series (year model and colour not provided), was stolen from the victim when the ‘buyer’ took it for a test drive near Station Road.

* Three homes were burgled.

The break-ins took place along Blyde Avenue in Leachville, Colliery Road in Sunair Park, and Hoy Avenue.

Television sets, a home theatre system, laptop, portable hard drive device and internet router were stolen.

• Saturday – A residence in the Mkhankwa Village informal settlement, in Maryvlei, was burgled of personal documents and cash.

• Sunday – A man was robbed at gunpoint at the corner of Cavendish Street and Voortrekker Road.

The victim and another male were walking to the shop at around 5pm, when two men confronted them and pointed a gun at them.

The robbers searched them and ran off with the victim’s cellphone.

Police later arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.

* A vacant house situated along New Kleinfontein Road, in Leachville, was broken into.

Taps and copper pipes were stolen.
