Social entrepreneur wants to make a difference

Miss Teen Social Entrepreneur South Africa 2017 will be crowned at Carnival City on October 7.

Brakpan resident Lee-Ann van Coppenhagen has made it to the finals of Miss Teen Social Entrepreneur South Africa 2017.

The Grade 10 Hoërskool Stoffberg learner is very excited to be part of the journey and is working hard behind the scenes to make her mark.

“Miss Teen SESA is not about beauty, but is rather aimed at educating young girls about social responsibility and social entrepreneurship skills,” said Lee-Ann.

The initiative, started by Tarryn Ogle, is in its second year.

Lee-Ann explained that the charity Dignity Dreams is benefiting from the pageant.

“Dignity Dreams cares for the health of underprivileged girls and those who cannot afford sanitary toiletries,” said Lee-Ann.

The public is encouraged to visit the pageant’s Facebook page, like Lee-Ann’s photograph and donate a minimum of R200 to sponsor one reusable dignity pack.

One such pack will get a girl through three to five years of high school.

Donations can also be made directly to the organisation.

“My friends and family have been wonderful in their support for my campaign, but I need the support of the business people and residents of Brakpan,” said Lee-Ann.

Contact Lee-Ann via WhatsApp on 065 170 3650 or send an e-mail to suzette.vermaak@netcare.co.za

The cut-off date for donations is October 3.
