Concerned community members to embark on service delivery protest

All Brakpan residents are invited to participate.

A protest march to highlight several issues facing Brakpan residents will be held in the CBD tomorrow (Friday).

The event, planned by a group of concerned community members known as ‘Brakpan Community’, is aimed at calling attention to service delivery issues, crime and other problems.

All Brakpan residents are invited to participate.

“We the people of Ward 97, from all walks of life, regardless of race, colour and gender will be having the service delivery protest march to pursue the Ekurhuleni municipality to listen and urgently attend to our grievances,” the organisers explained in a statement.

They identified the following issues:

• Lack of housing

• High levels of unemployment

• Skyrocketing levels of homelessness

• Lack of on-the-job training for the youth

• Dirty CBD

• Crime and unsafe streets

• Lack of transformation

• Failure by state-owned enterprises around Brakpan to employ locals.

The march will take place from 7am.

The gathering point is the Olympic Centre, which is situated at the corner of Kitzinger Avenue and High Street.
