Crimes reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (August 30 to 31):

Cases reported:

• Reckless driving: 2
• Theft out of motor vehicle: 2 (one Boksburg case)

Arrests:

• Attempted housebreaking and theft: 2

Hijacking:

• The driver of a white Isuzu KB 250 bakkie was hijacked along Heidelberg Road (R23), near Carnival City, yesterday (Wednesday).

Two men confronted the driver at gunpoint at around 11am and tied him up.

The victim was dropped off in Roodepoort.

No further information was provided.

Business robbery:

• Four men robbed a transport company situated along Fourth Road, in Witpoort Estates, this morning (Thursday).

The robbers, two of whom were armed with rifles,  entered the premises sometime after midnight and assaulted a security guard.

The guard’s hands were bound with shoelaces and he was robbed of his cellphone and wallet.

Details of any other stolen goods have not yet been provided to police.

Robbery:

• Two men robbed a school learner of his bicycle at the corner of Hagart Street and Lapping Road, in Brenthurst, yesterday.

The robbers attacked the victim at around 2.30pm as he was cycling home from school.

• A woman was robbed of her handbag in the CBD yesterday.

The incident took place at the corner of Prince George Avenue and Kingsway Avenue, at about 4.30pm.

A man snatched the bag from the victim as she was locking her car door.

The robber and his female accomplice then ran off.

Theft out of motor vehicle:

• A ladder was stolen from a bakkie parked along Tweedy Road, in Brenthurst, on Tuesday.

Burglary:

• Hastings Avenue.

The home was broken into yesterday.

Stolen: An ice maker, toolbox and an extension cord.

• An attempt was made to break into a house in Tall Trees Avenue, in Kenleaf, yesterday.

The home’s owner saw two men on the property at around 9am and called police.

Two suspects were arrested.
