Entries for fine arts awards now open

A whopping R160 000 in prize money is up for grabs.

The City of Ekurhuleni is calling on all artists to submit their marvelous works of art for the 30th edition of the Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards.

A whopping R160 000 in prize money is up for grabs.

Sculptures and installations can be submitted from August 22 to 24, between 9am and 7pm at the Coen Scholtz Recreation Centre, which is situated along Mooifontein Road, in Birchleigh North, Kempton Park.

Artworks may also be submitted at the following venues on stipulated days:

• Springs Art Gallery: corner Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, in Springs.

Paper and canvas artworks may be submitted on August 22 and 23.

• Katlehong Arts Centre: 203 Sontonga Street, in Phooko Section, Katlehong.

Artworks may be submitted on August 23.

• Boksburg Library Auditorium: Trichardt Street, in Boksburg.

Paper and canvas artworks may be submitted on August 22.

Entry forms are available at the venues and an entrance fee of R50 per artwork is charged.

All artworks must be ready and suitable for exhibition. They need to have been completed in the 12 months prior to the competition.

The winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony set to take place on September 23 at the Coen Scholtz Recreational Centre.
