Mandela joy spread at two creches

Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services visited two crèches in the region, on Tuesday, last week, in celebration of International Nelson Mandela Day.

Emergency services personnel and staff spent their 67 minutes at these early childhood development centres and handed out gifts to the children.

They also revamped some of the facilities at the crèches.

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Safety, Clr Vivian Chauke, was also in attendance on the day.

The activities kicked off just after 10am at Good Hope crèche, in Germiston.

Structures at this crèche are made from wood and Community Emergency Response Team programme members and Public Information Education and Relations officials started the day by painting and varnishing the roofs and walls at Good Hope.

The group then proceeded to the Everest crèche in Springs, where they painted the corrugated structures at this facility in multiple bright colours

Both crèches received donations of blankets, soccer balls and children’s winter clothes.
