Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A woman was robbed of her handbag in the parking lot of Mall@Carnival.

A lone male thief snatched the bag at about 4pm, as the woman returned to her car after shopping.

The bag contained a pair of reading spectacles, make-up and other personal belongings.

* A grey Toyota Corolla was stolen from the corner of Jones Avenue and Prince George Avenue.

The car was stolen between 9.50am and 10am.

Valuables inside the vehicle included a cellphone, an ID book, driver’s licence, bank cards and keys.

• Saturday – Two robbers held up a motorist at gunpoint and stole his cellphone.

The victim was confronted by the armed men when he stopped at a red traffic light at the intersection of Prince George Avenue and Kitzinger Avenue just after midnight.

They pointed their guns at the victim and demanded his cellphone.

The robbers took the phone and ran off towards the taxi rank.

* A white Nissan Sentra was stolen from Craigholm Street, in Dalview.

The car was taken between 4pm and 6.55pm.

• Sunday – At the time of publication, no incidents of theft, robbery, burglary, hijacking or any other serious crime had been reported.

Other cases reported:

• Thursday – A white Mitsubishi Fuso truck was stolen from Voortrekker Road.

* Tyres were stolen from a truck parked at an address along Cupreous Street, in Vulcania.
