Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

• Friday – A workshop situated along Second Road, in Withok Estates, was burgled of power tools, car tyres, car mags and car batteries.

* A woman was robbed of her handbag along Voortrekker Road.

The victim was walking to the Station Road taxi rank at around 5.20am when a man grabbed her bag.

The bag contained two cellphones, cash and other personal belongings.

* Camping equipment was stolen from a caravan parked at an address in Dabchick Street, Dalpark.

* Three armed men robbed a shop of cash, cigarettes and cellphones.

The robbers entered the Northdene Avenue store at around 7pm and pointed guns at staff.

An eyewitness reported the robbers fled in a white Bantam bakkie.

* Coetzee Street in Minnebron was the scene of two separate theft incidents.

Tyres and mags were stolen from a white Opel Corsa parked along this street, while a laptop, cash and tyres were stolen from a yellow Ford bakkie.

* Three vehicles and a motorbike were stolen.

A white Nissan One Tonner was stolen from Oval Road, in Anzac, and a red Ford Lazer was stolen from Kitzinger Avenue.

The motorbike (make and model not provided) was taken from an address along Afrikaner Road, in Dalview.

A red Nissan Sentra was stolen from Van der Walt Road, in Dalview.

• Saturday – A pink Toyota Tazz was stolen from a panelbeating business along Voortrekker Road.

* A shebeen in Denne Road, Denneoord, was robbed by two men.

The robbers entered the establishment at about 10.30pm and fired a single gunshot.

Patrons and the female owner were instructed to lie on the floor and were then searched.

The robbers fled with money and cellphones.

* Two cars parked at Mall@Carnival were broken into.

The ignition of a white Mazda 323 was tampered with and its radio stolen, while golf clubs were stolen from a white Nisssan NP200 .

* A Hyundai H100 was stolen from Nossob Street, in Dalpark.

• Sunday – Steel was stolen from a construction site along Second Road, in Witpoort Estates.

Security guards on duty were confronted at around midnight by five men, two of whom were armed.

The robbers also took the guards’ cellphones, torches and pepper spray.

The stolen goods were later recovered and a suspect was arrested.

* Two armed men stole money from the Dalpark Plaza Tollgate along the N17 highway.

The robbers threatened a female cashier in her booth at around 4am, telling her they would kill her.

Other cases reported over the weekend:

• Thursday – A TV, games console, kettle and sound equipment was stolen from a home along Colliery Road, in Rand Collieries.

* Tyres were stolen from a bus parked at business premises along Lemmer Road, in Vulcania.

A toolbox on the property was also stolen.

* A car parked at Mall@Carnival was broken into.

A laptop, passport, foreign currency, flight tickets and other goods were stolen.
