Attempted murder:

A shoot-out between an off-duty policeman and three robbers took place along Proctor Circle, in Brakpan North.

The incident took place at about 1.30pm on Saturday.

The officer and his wife were at home when they heard a car hooting in the street.

The woman got up to investigate and notified her husband that three armed men were breaking into the house next door.

The officer retrieved his firearm from a safe and headed outside.

He was met with gunfire from one of the robbers and the trio got into a silver Toyota Hilux bakkie and reversed out of the yard.

One of the suspects fell from the vehicle as it sped off and the man opened fire on the officer.

The two others also fired shots and the officer returned fire, taking cover behind a pillar along his boundary fence.

Police back-up arrived on the scene, but the armed men evaded capture.

A TV and other household items were stolen from the home.

Arson:

Several shacks in the informal settlement situated along Location Road, near Brakpan North, were set alight on Sunday.

Police were called to the scene at around 6.30pm.

No injuries were reported and the fires were extinguished.

Burglary:

• Strasheim Street, in Brakpan North.

The residence was burgled on Wednesday.

Stolen: Medical equipment, clothing, shoes and bedding.

• Opintia Avenue, in Minnebron.

The break-in took place on Friday.

Stolen: A TV, sound system, DVD player, blankets and shoes.

• Recreation Road, in Anzac.

The residence was broken into on Saturday.

Stolen: A TV, laptop, tablet and cellphone.

• Escombe Avenue.

The home was burgled on Saturday.

Stolen: Toolboxes, tyres and mags.

• Lemmer Road, in Vulcania (business).

The break-in occurred on Sunday and a suspect was arrested on the property.

Details of stolen goods were not provided.

• Voortrekker Road.

The residence was broken into yesterday (Monday).

Stolen: Clothing and a radio.

• 20th Road, in Denneoord.

The burglary took place yesterday.

Stolen: A games console, tablet, earphones and shoes.

• Nossob Street, in Dalpark.

The break-in occurred yesterday.

Stolen: A TV, laptop and DVD player.

Theft out of/from a motor vehicle:

• Tyres were stolen from a truck parked at business premises along Portion Road, in Withok Estates.

The theft took place on Saturday.

Theft of motor vehicle:

• Two motorbikes were stolen from an address in Gladstone Avenue.

The bikes, a red Honda and a maroon Harley Davidson, were taken on Wednesday, last week.

A dog on the property was killed with poison.

• A green Toyota Conquest was stolen yesterday from the corner of Voortrekker Road and Wanderers Street.

The car was taken between 8am and 1pm.

• A white Hyundai H100 was stolen from Devon Street, in Dalview.

The bakkie was stolen yesterday between 1pm and 1.20pm.

Attempted motor vehicle theft:

• A Toyota Etios parked along Dirk van der Hoff Street, in Rand Collieries, was broken into and its ignition tampered with.

The incident took place between 12.30pm and 2pm.
