Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (June 1 to 2):

Cases reported:

• Theft out of motor vehicle: 2
• Business robbery: 2
• General theft: 3
• Malicious damage to property: 2
• Business burglary: 1
• Traffic offences: 9
• Residential burglary: 1
• Speeding: 7

Arrests:

• Speeding: 7
• Crimen injuria: 2

Robbery:

• Computers, TVs and a firearm were stolen from a business along Steynberg Street, in Van Eck Park.

Five men overpowered a security guard on the property at around 9.15pm on Wednesday and bound him with shoelaces.

The robbers then broke down the door to the workshop.

The firearm, a 9mm Parabellum, was stolen from a safe on the premises.

• A cellphone store situated along Kitzinger Avenue was robbed by three men yesterday (Thursday).

The robbers entered the shop at around 1.30pm and held staff and a customer at gunpoint.

They fled with numerous cellphones.

Burglary:

• Lemmer Road, in Vulcania (business).

The break-in took place between 5.45pm on Wednesday and 7am, yesterday.

Stolen: Workshop tools, steel and pipes.

• Rademan Street, in Withok Estates.

The residence was burgled at about 1pm, yesterday.

Stolen: A TV, a 9kg gas bottle and a set of house keys.

Theft out of/from motor vehicle:

• A car parked at an address along Trollip Street, in Brenthurst, was broken into.

The car’s radio, speakers and all four wheels were stolen.

The theft took place between 10pm on Wednesday and 6.40am yesterday.

• On Tuesday, tyres were stolen from a car parked at the corner of Kingsway Avenue and Prince George Avenue.

The theft took place between 7.45am and 4.45pm.

The tyres, which were recently purchased, were on the back seat of the victim’s car and intended for use on a different vehicle.
