Crime reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (May 16 to 17):

Carjacking:

• The driver of a white Toyota Hilux was hijacked along the R23 (Heidelberg Road) at around 10.15am, yesterday (Tuesday).

The victim told police he was stuck in traffic near the Rangeview Road intersection, when he noticed two men near the back of his vehicle.

As the pair walked past the bakkie, one of the men opened the passenger door and pointed a gun at the driver.

Both men climbed into the vehicle and instructed the victim to drive.

Once they had passed Carnival City, the hijackers told the driver to pull over.

He was instructed to get out of the vehicle and was then bundled into the boot of a red car.

The victim was searched and robbed of his wallet and cellphone.

After about half an hour, the driver was dropped off near a railway line and sought help from security guards.

Business robbery:

• A robbery at a business along Lemmer Road, in Vulcania, was interrupted by the arrival of response officers from a local security company.

Five armed robbers confronted the security guards on the premises at about 4am, yesterday morning.

One of the guards managed to press the panic button and the response officers arrived shortly thereafter.

Shots rang out and the robbers fled.

It was later discovered that six truck batteries were stolen.

Theft of motor vehicle:

• Two cars were stolen from the same complex along Gloucester Avenue, in Kenleaf.

A gold Volkswagen Polo hatchback and a silver Volkswagen Polo Classic were discovered missing yesterday morning (Tuesday).

• A white Hyundai bakkie (model not provided) was stolen from the corner of Escombe Avenue and Kerry Street, yesterday.

The theft took place between 1am and 7am.
