Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Two homes in a complex along Glamorgan Avenue, in Kenleaf, were broken into.

Television sets, a laptop, a tablet, jewellery and a blanket were stolen.

* Bottles of wine, a television set and jewellery were stolen from a home in a complex along Bentley Place, in Kenleaf.

A woman living in a neighbouring unit was threatened at gunpoint by one of the two robbers.

The woman heard a loud noise at about 12.15pm and upon investigation saw the pair breaking into the unit.

One of the men saw her and threatened to shoot her.

* A white Ford Ranger was stolen from Kitzinger Avenue.

• Saturday – A man was robbed of R500 at the corner of Kingsway Avenue and Gordon Street.

The victim was walking home at around 11.15am after withdrawing the money at an ATM in the CBD, when he was grabbed by two men, one of whom pointed a knife at him.

The robbers demanded cash and told the victim they had seen him at the bank.

* A taxi driver was robbed of his takings and cellphone by two men along Lower Road, in Dalpark.

The victim, who was alone in the taxi, was approached by the robbers at 9.45pm while parked at a petrol station.

The robbers climbed into the taxi and threatened the driver with a gun.

* Two cars were stolen.

A blue Ford Courier was stolen from Van Dyk Road, in Rand Collieries, and a silver Toyota Etios was stolen from Acton Street, in Dalview.

• Sunday – Two robbers assaulted and threatened a woman with a knife in front of her six-year-old child.

The incident took place at about 6.30pm, when the mother and son were walking along Boven Avenue, in Leachville.

One of the robbers pointed a knife at the victim and demanded her handbag.

When she refused to hand it over, the robber struck her in the face.

The robber cut the bag’s straps and took off with the bag.

The bag contained cosmetics, banks cards, personal documents, house keys, a tablet, two cellphones and medicine.

* A white Scooter (make and model not provided) was stolen from Hamilton Avenue.

Other:

Thursday – Batteries were stolen from a truck parked along 12th Road, in Vulcania.
