Robberies

• A security guard was assaulted during an armed robbery at an address along Springs Road, in Withok Estates.

Three robbers confronted the guard and another man who lives on the premises at around 3am, yesterday (Tuesday).

One of the robbers struck the guard in the face with a crowbar.

The robbers stole a television set, a DVD player, a hi-fi and three cellphones from a room on the property.

• A man was robbed of thousands of rand in cash yesterday.

The victim cashed a cheque at a bank in Mall@Carnival at about 11.15am and then drove to a company along Hoy Avenue to deliver the money.

As he stopped at the address, a white BMW pulled up alongside his vehicle and two men armed with guns alighted the car.

They opened the passenger door of the victim’s bakkie and pointed their guns at him.

The robbers searched the victim and took the cash.

The pair returned to their vehicle and sped off.

Break-ins:

• Kierpersol Crescent, in Dalpark.

Stolen: A laptop, tablet, two digital cameras, a satellite TV decoder, two cellphones and jewellery.

• Loerie Lane, in Anzac.

Stolen: A television set, tablet, games console and a cellphone.

• Hospital Road, in Brakpan North.

Stolen: Clothes, shoes, groceries, jewellery, a tablet, cash and perfume.

• Taft Avenue.

Stolen: A home theatre system.

Theft of vehicle:

• A Brakpan North resident was robbed of his Big Boy scooter after advertising it for sale on a popular online classified site.

After posting the advert on Saturday, the victim, who lives along Hewitt Street, was contacted by a man who wanted to purchase the scooter.

The victim requested that the money be deposited into his bank account, and the bike and papers were then collected on behalf of the buyer.

The buyer, however, failed to pay the funds into the victim’s account.

• A white Nissan 1400 bakkie was stolen from the Brakpan Civic Centre, along Escombe Avenue.

The theft took place between 12.50pm and 1pm, yesterday.

Other:

• Batteries were stolen from a truck parked at an address along Colliery Road, in Rand Collieries.

The theft took place between 9pm and 11pm, last night.

• A car radio was stolen from a vehicle parked at an address along Power Street, last night.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with this theft.
