  • A lone robber stole two cellphones from a security guard at business premises along Lemmer Road, in Maryvlei, on Wednesday (yesterday).

The robber, who was armed with a gun, confronted the victim in the guard room at around 2.50am.

He demanded television sets, laptops and computers.

The guard told the robber there were no such items on the premises.

The robber grabbed the cellphones and fled.

  • A silver Honda Ballade was stolen yesterday from the corner of Voortrekker Road and High Street.

The theft took place between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

  • The driver of a blue Volkswagen Polo TSI was hijacked at the intersection of Heidelberg Road and New Kleinfontein Road, at about 8.30pm, last night.

The man was travelling to Benoni and was stationary at the traffic lights, when two men appeared at his car and pointed guns at him.

The victim was instructed to open the doors, which he did.

He then attempted to get out of the car, but one of the hijackers told him to get back in the vehicle.

The victim was forced into the backseat, where the other hijacker sat with him.

After driving around for about 45 minutes, they stopped at an unknown address and the victim was forced out of his vehicle and into a white Toyota Corolla.

He was joined in this vehicle by only one of the hijackers.

The other hijacker and two other men climbed into the Polo and left.

While driving around in the Corolla, the hijacker asked the victim for the pin numbers to his bank cards.

The hijacker also asked the victim if he had withdrawn his daily limit, to which the man replied yes.

The hijacker told him they would wait until midnight and would then make a withdrawal.

The victim was eventually dropped off in Buhle Park, in Germiston, sometime after midnight.

His vehicle’s tracking device was located in Katlehong, but the car has not yet been recovered.
