Crime reported to Brakpan police within the past 24 hours (March 6 to March 7):

Cases reported:

• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Burglary business: 1
• General theft: 4
• Theft out of motor vehicle: 1

• Burglary residential: 1
• House robbery: 2

Arrests:

• None

Break-ins:

• Springs Road, in Witpoortjie (business).

Stolen: Tyres, a compressor and batteries.

• Van der Walt Road, in Dalview.

Stolen: Copper wires and steel tabs.

Other:

• Two house robberies took place yesterday (Monday).

* A Sallies Village resident was robbed in his home along Sabie Street by two men at about 1.10pm.

The robbers, one of whom was armed with a gun, fled with a television set, home theatre system and a laptop.

They were travelling in a white Toyota Corolla.

* A resident of Redheart Street, in Dalpark, fell victim to a gang of robbers at around 4.15pm.

The victim answered a knock at his door and was greeted by a man with a firearm.

The robber was joined by five others and the resident was bound with cable ties.

The gang took a television set, two laptops, an amplifier, clothes, shoes, an iron, microwave, tablet and the resident’s car –  a silver Mercedes Benz C180.

The vehicle was recovered shortly afterwards

• A smash-and-grab was reported along Acton Street, in Dalview, yesterday.

A woman was waiting to pick up children from the nearby school, when a man smashed the passenger window and grabbed her handbag.

The incident took place at about 2.30pm.
